How to Use a Scanner App for Safely Uploading Your Tax Documents to ShareFile

This video explains how to download and use the Scanner Pro App on your mobile device for safely sharing PDF documents to your ShareFile account. If you already use a different scanner app on your device, you can use the one you already have. This is Scanner Pro:

This next section shows, through screenshots, the steps to take to use this app:

Scanning App Example This is Scanner Pro, the app we used for our demonstration. It is iOS and Android compatible. If you already have a scanner app on your device you can use it.
Step 1 – Scanning App Example
Document Ready to Save Your document is now ready to save. Hit the save button in the top left-hand corner.

Rename Document Part 2 - Be sure to rename the document accordingly. EX. World of Chocolate 1099. Once renamed, click done in the upper right corner.

Tax Document Example This is the camera view from your device. Push the gray button to scan. If the camera doesn't open automatically see "My Scans".

My Scans - You will find your document under "My Scans". If the camera does not open automatically, you can access it here.
Step 5 – Find Document in My Scans
Approve Scan - The app will grab the document. See dots and lines around the outside edge. Approve the scan by clicking the checkmark and save as PDF file.

Rename Document Part 1 - Be sure to rename the document accordingly.

Here is a concise summary of the tax season process:

  1. Gather tax documents

2. Complete Client Checklist

3. Upload Client Checklist and tax documents in PDF format to ShareFile by the above deadline

4. We prepare your return and email you with questions

5. When complete we send you the e-file authorization forms to e-sign and once signed we e-file your return

6. You receive confirmation emails from taxing agencies (federal/state) when your returns are accepted

7. Your completed tax return with any payment vouchers will be uploaded to ShareFile for your future access
