How will ShareFile differ from SmartVault?
ShareFile has the same function as SmartVault: it is a secure document-management system. It is renowned for being a simple, easy-to-use, and client-friendly system. Just like SmartVault, you will be able to upload your documents to ShareFile, and we will be able to share files with you. You will still be able to see all of your folders in one place with one login. One of the main differences between ShareFile and SmartVault is that we will be able to easily send your documents to any third party that you would like to share them with.
What about my documents that are currently in SmartVault?
As of April 21st, all of your documents in SmartVault have successfully been copied to ShareFile!
Starting May 15th, 2026, we will no longer use SmartVault. We will personally add any documents that you uploaded into your SmartVault Client Upload folder between April 21st and May 15th to your ShareFile Client Upload folder. Please ensure that you upload all documents to ShareFile starting May 15th.
What is MSM Advisor's ShareFile subdomain?
Every company that uses ShareFile has its own, custom URL. When you log in to ShareFile, it may ask you to specify the subdomain. MSM Advisor’s subdomain for ShareFile is msmadvisorsllc.
What happens if I forgot my ShareFile password?
If you forgot your ShareFile password, no worries! Simply go to log into ShareFile, put your email address in, and when it prompts you for your password, click the “Forgot Password” button. ShareFile will then walk you through the steps to resetting your password. Please note that we do not have access to your password, and we are unable to reset your password on your behalf.
A third party needs access to one of my documents. How do I share it with them?
If a third party, such as your banker or lawyer, needs access to one of your documents, let us know! Third party sharing with ShareFile is quick and easy. We will simply need the email address of the third party, and we will securely send them your document(s).
